1.6.022 Sept 2026

This release introduces elastic time-stretching for sample channels, letting users independently adjust playback speed and pitch, powered by the Rubber Band audio library. The Sample Editor has been reworked accordingly with a redesigned Pitch/Time panel, a new Playback Mode selector (Tape vs. Elastic), a quick "Adjust..." menu for common pitch/time operations, and a dedicated sample info window.

  • Add elastic (time-stretching) playback mode for sample channels, allowing tempo and pitch to be changed independently;
  • Sample Editor: major UI rework, focusing on the pitch tools and audio file info sections;
  • Sample Editor: organize the sample-spreading actions (spread to bar, spread to song) into a dedicated menu;
  • Sample Editor: add "+1 Semitone" and "-1 Semitone" options to quickly adjust sample pitch in semitone increments;
  • Improve audio buffer performance and internal data handling by switching to a more efficient memory layout;
  • CMake: add a new WITH_ASAN option (disabled by default) to build with AddressSanitizer + UndefinedBehaviorSanitizer;
  • Fix a crash that could occur when closing sub-windows;
  • Various minor internal optimizations and code cleanups.
1.5.017 Jun 2026

This release introduces a major overhaul of Giada's timing and sequencing engine, with a new tick-based internal timeline that improves musical precision across editing and playback. It also expands scene management with more flexible copy, clear and switching features, improves plug-in and MIDI workflow, adds CPU load monitoring to the main window and includes a broad round of internal cleanup and UI polish.

  • New tick-based audio rendering engine, improving consistency across sequencing, playback and action editing;
  • Rework the internal storage of actions, improving performance and simplifying action handling;
  • Add support for forced scene switching;
  • Add the ability to copy the current scene to another;
  • Add options to clear all actions in the current scene or across all scenes;
  • Add options to free all sample channels in the current scene or across all scenes;
  • Allow plug-ins that generate MIDI to forward their output to subsequent plug-ins;
  • Improve transport and position reporting for plug-ins;
  • Add CPU load meter in the main window, along with a new footer area with extra information;
  • Fix audio glitches while saving a project;
  • Fix wrong sample range points computation when the system sample rate changes;
  • Include broader internal cleanup, refactoring, dependency updates and UI polish.
1.4.22 Jun 2026

This is the second bugfix release in the 1.4 series which makes working with scenes smoother and more flexible, fixes a few annoyances, and brings some welcome cleanup under the hood.

  • Add ability to copy the entire scene to another;
  • Add ability to force-change a scene;
  • Add ability to clear all actions in current scene or in all scenes;
  • Add ability to free all sample channels in current scene or in all scenes;
  • Add missing pop-over labels to scene buttons;
  • Fix sample channels being killed abruptly on scene change;
  • Minor refactoring and code cleanup.
1.4.110 May 2026

This is a bugfix release that makes Giada feel smoother and more flexible, with better scene and channel workflow, customizable keyboard and MIDI control for switching scenes and a round of fixes for playback, editing, file browsing, and plug-in stability.

  • Enable scene switching via keyboard or MIDI, with support for custom bindings;
  • Display inactive scenes (i.e. with no audio or actions);
  • Add ability to rename a channel in all scenes;
  • Add ability to undo a scene change when transport is running;
  • Remove obsolete 'export sample...' function;
  • Improve support for audio plug-ins with complex buses layout;
  • Revert scene status to IDLE when transport stops;
  • File Browser: fix bug that would allow to incorrectly browse into project folders;
  • Fix bug that would prevent to successfully clear keyboard bindings;
  • Fix crash when opening plug-in browser with no plug-ins detected;
  • Fix wrong Wave object deletion when freeing a sample channel;
  • Fix inability to play samples once removed from a scene;
  • Fix inability to delete all channel actions from all scenes;
  • Fix Channel 'copy to scene' function, copying too many actions;
  • Sample Editor: fix pitch changes not working in scenes greater than 1;
  • Sample Editor: prevent tools to get stuck in 'deactivated' state when switching between scenes;
  • Update JUCE to version 8.0.12;
