wxMaxima
A graphical user interface for Maxima, a powerful computer algebra system
io.github.wxmaxima_developers.wxMaximawxMaxima is a graphical user interface for the computer algebra system Maxima: a program that solves mathematical problems by manipulating equations (and outputting the resulting formula), instead of just calculating a number. wxMaxima eases the use of Maxima by making most of its commands available through a menu system and by providing input dialogs for commands that require more than one argument. It also implements its own display engine that outputs mathematical symbols directly instead of depicting them with ASCII characters.
wxMaxima also features 2D and 3D inline plots, simple animations, mixing of text and mathematical calculations to create documents, exporting of input and output to TeX, document structuring and a browser for Maxima's manual including command index and full text searching.

26.09.030 Sept 2026
Large matrices and keyboard access to output are the main topics of this release, again developed with help from the AI assistant Claude: a matrix too large for the window no longer widens the worksheet, output can be explored part by part with the keyboard, links in text and output can be opened, and an optional MCP server lets AI tools read the worksheet. Plus many fixes, among them a security fix for .wxm files.
26.08.011 Aug 2026
Another large batch of improvements, many of them developed with help from the AI assistant Claude: sidebars can now be minimized, "Find and Replace" can be docked like the other sidebars, right-to-left interface languages and mixed-direction text are now properly supported, translation losses across dozens of languages were found and restored, and a long list of export, layout and stability fixes.
26.07.121 Jul 2026
A large batch of improvements, many of them developed with help from the AI assistants Claude and Fable: dark mode now also themes the native user interface on Windows, native Windows-on-Arm (ARM64) builds, numerous speedups and many bug and stability fixes.

Many performance and bug fixes, some of them with help of AI.
