TeXstudio is an integrated writing environment for creating LaTeX documents. It integrates editing, building and viewing into a single, user-friendly interface.

Our goal is to make writing LaTeX as easy and comfortable as possible. This means you can focus on your content with the help of a powerful set of features:

  • Easy source code navigation: A structure view, clickable links and a cursor history
  • Detailed syntax highlighting
  • Auto-completion
  • Live checking for spelling, grammar, citations, references, syntax and packages
  • Innovative table editing
  • Clear display of LaTeX errors and warnings (in-editor and as a list)
  • Integrated PDF viewer with (almost) word-level syncing
  • Live-updating inline preview for formulas and code segments
  • Scripting support

Requires either TeX Live being installed on the system from your distribution's repositories or the TeX Live Flatpak which you can install by running 'flatpak install flathub org.freedesktop.Sdk.Extension.texlive//25.08'

4.9.87 Sept 2026
  • fix hang when external viewer is called from internal pdf viewer #4625
  • improve handling of subfolder in gitpanel #4635
  • fix freeze on thesaurus dialog #4629
  • fix crash on find label #4613
  • breaking change: all commands are internally monitored until they finish. New commands are blocked from execution which also blocks recompile if an external pdf viewer is used (which keeps running). Command syntax is extended to accept “&” at the end of a command, so that it runs that command detached (i.e. no blocking, no monitoring) #4614
  • make git panel smaller #4591
  • enable drag/drop from internal file explorer to text, calls image wizard/inserts “ ” #4608
  • change rootdir for fileExplorer after session restore
