3.8.023 Jul 2026
This release brings a major update of the procedural planet generation system, new high-resolution icons, and many bug fixes:
- Major procedural planet generation overhaul with improved noise, domain warping, 3D biome LUTs, and new presets (lava, tropical, desert).
- Merge biome + surfacegen passes into a single render pass. This halves GPU bandwidth, eliminates 8-bit quantization.
- Add tessellation capability detection, plains code, latitude influence, and colored atmospheres.
- Update all UI icons to higher resolution for HiDPI support.
- Implement custom control panes for Stereo, Panorama, Planetarium, and Orthosphere view modes.
- Add pulsar component type and on-focus load for proximity descriptors.
- Fix cube-sphere and octahedron-sphere UV mapping and tangents.
- Fix VR UI regression, light glow in cubemap mode, label seams, and star point size adjustment.
- Update LWJGL3 to 3.3.4, Gradle to 9.6.1, JRE to JDK-26.0.1+8.
